Day One:
Supporting Immigrant Survivors Today
Presented by: Andy Low and Ana Maria Studer
This training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions when supporting immigrant survivors. We will examine key immigration relief options, including visa pathways, and discuss the use of Delegation of Parental Authority (DOPA) as a safety planning tool. We will also explore how to connect survivors with critical resources and support services.
Maintaining the Dream House: Protect and Assert Property Rights
Presented by: Raelene Caswell and Bailey Hovland
What do I do if my ex won't return my car? What happens if they need to come back and get their property after an OFP is granted? Victim/survivors often ask questions about how to protect and assert their property rights, and the answer is heavily dependant on the unique circumstances of each case. This presentation will cover how to help a victim/survivor maintain their 'Dream House", addressing what happens with shared real estate, how to address vehicles, what happens to shared pets, and more.
Protecting Children through OFPs and HROs

This presentation will review OFP/HRO basics and when it may be appropriate to file on behalf of a minor. It will also discuss evidentiary issues in hearings, including child testimony and hearsay statements. It will address the specific relief available in these orders and how to advocate for effective language that prioritizes safety.
